does anyone find when you go in to a shop you have troubble finding the items that you want becaus you can't describe them? i think in some stores now they have help for the blind and stuff but i'm not sure!

well that's why i'm kind of luckey here, the flyer is available online, I make a list, then go myself to the areas where the things I get every time are...unless they've been moved around, anything else I just give the list to one of the greeters and ask them to give me a hand. Going shopping with sighted roommate also helps to.hehe

Yeah that's why I am asking a shop assistant to help me. I would not be able to do this alone. Not at all. And most of the shop assistants are nice so why not?

I can usually get help in a store, although I mostly shop on-line more than I do in person. It's just easier to browse that way.

I also can usually get help in a store finding things, and ever since I was eight, I was trained to navigate grocery stores reading aisle signs with my monocular and learning that most store layouts are the same for all the basics like produce and dairy and whatnot.

i've a bit of sights, there fore i'll try to look up for those items that i want if i'm in those familiar stores. here, there are shop assistants who are not so helpfull and they will have kind of thought like, "you are blind" why you come alone to shops for things or "blindies shouldn't go for shopping by themself" and they won't assist you.

The only thing irritating about online is the lack of descriptions with some things. IE, we were looking at cingular.com to buy a few things for my phone, and they didn't have good descriptions at all, and because of the lack of descriptions I didn't know if what I was looking at was really what I wanted for my phone or not...So, what did I do? LOL. I called Cingular Sales department and told them exactly what I wanted and asked them "so, do you guys have it?". It worked. I now got what I need for my phone. *smile*
